Overview

Take a photo. Add a mouth. Record your voice. Save a video.  It’s that simple to make your photos come to life with YakitKidsIconYakit Kids.  Similar to Chatterpix, this app lets you use animated mouths or draw your own on any image in your camera roll. Add your voice. Change the pitch to make it higher or lower and save your video to the camera roll.  You can also add animated eyes and other special effects.  Even have multiple characters talk by adding additional mouths.

Concerns

Recording time limited to 15 seconds, so kids are forced to edit what they say down to just the important stuff.  Or record and save multiple videos.  Also some teachers might not like that among some of the accessories you can add include zombie characters and something that could either be soft chocolate ice cream or a pile of poo.  I just let kids know up front those options are not acceptable.

Sample Uses

Have students take photos of their own artwork and bring it to life.  Save the videos online and turn the link into a QR code.  Put the QR code on the artwork and you now have an interactive art display.

Do I plan to use it?

Yes! I’ve been using it for a few years now.

Commitment and Learning Curve

Very low. Kindergarteners can do it.
